The Jamb Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) in the discharge of its statutory function of holding annual meetings with various stakeholders to discuss policy issues concerning admissions into the Nigerian University System, convened the 2022 Policy Meeting on Thursday 21st July 2022 at the International Conference Center Abuja. The Hon. Minister of Education, Malam Adamu Adamu was the Chairman of the meeting and gave a brief address on the Policy Directives of the 2022 exercise. The Chief Host and Registrar of JAMB, Professor Is-Haq O. Oloyede gave an update on the 2021 Admissions exercise and the 2022 UTME/DE performances as well as a memorandum to the 2022 Policy meeting on plans and modalities for the conduct of admissions to tertiary institutions in Nigeria. It is noteworthy that the 2022 Policy meeting approved the minimum institutional score of 140 marks in Nigerian universities irrespective of ownership.
A major highlight of the 2022 JAMB Policy meeting was the 2020 National Tertiary Admission’s Performance-merit award, where some institutions were rewarded with cash prizes for compliance with certain aspects of the admission process. The categories of the awards included:
a.The 2020 Institution of First Choice for Candidates to Tertiary Institutions in Nigeria.
b.The Most National Institution in 2020 Admission.
c.The 2020 Most Improved Institution in Gender Balance
d.The Institution with the Highest Number of International Students in 2020 Admission
e.The Most Compliant Institution in keeping to the Guidelines in 2020 Admission.
The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ikechukwu N.S. Dozie participated in the One (1) day Policy meeting in the company of the Registrar, Mr. Ernest Onuoha and the University Admissions Officer, Mrs. Nkeiruka Adioha.
