Summary of Academic Profile:
Peter Anyigor Edeh is an Assistant Lecturer, in the Department of Microbiology, Faculty of Sciences, Kingsley Ozumba Mbadiwe University, Ideato Imo State (KOMU).
He holds a Bachelors Degree (B.Sc) in Applied Microbiology from Ebonyi State University, Abakaliki (2015), A Master’s Degree (M.Sc) in Pharmaceutical Biotechnology from the Nnamdi Azikiwe University (NAU) Awka (2021) and is currently a doctoral candidate (Ph.D) of Pharmaceutical Biotechnology at the Nnamdi Azikiwe University (NAU), Awka Nigeria.
He has special research interest in Microbial Pathogenesis, Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR), Bioprospecting and search for antimicrobial peptides from natural products as well as drug discovery. Through his commitment to help curb the menace of microbial resistance to commonly used antibiotics, he researches for new and alternative therapies.
Peter is a member of the Nigerian Society for Microbiology (NSM), American Society for Microbiology (ASM), Nigerian Bioinformatics and Genomics Network (NBGN) and the Foundation for African Development through Int’l Biotech (FADIB) among other professional bodies.
He has published a number of research articles in reputable local and international peer reviewed journals.
Outside the University community, he is social entrepreneur, and speaker with years of experience in the community development sector, specifically focusing on the human capacity building of youths. He is the founder and team leader of Exceeding Life Network Africa, a nonprofit organization committed to the 360° growth and development, career advancement, leadership, and entrepreneurship of young people.
His interests range from education, leadership, and entrepreneurship to innovations.
