Summary of Academic Profile:

Sir Promise Nnaemeka Onwuegbuchu is a profound academic and a lecturer in the department of Microbiology at Kingsley Ozumba Mbadiwe University, Ideato, Imo State of Nigeria. He hails from Nwangele Local Government Area in Imo State.

Sir Onwuegbuchu obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in Microbiology from Abia State University, Uturu, (ABSU) in 2014. He then obtained certificate of Health and Safety at work from British International Safety Organization in 2016, before he proceeded to advance his education with a Master’s Degree in Public Health Microbiology from Abia State University, Uturu, in 2019. He is currently doing his Ph.D. program in Medical Microbiology at the same institution, Sir Onwuegbuchu is keener in his commitment to academic excellence while advancing in his field.

Sir Onwuegbuchu is an oriented scholar and has a sound academic and research profile. He has attended various conferences and workshops where he demonstrated his sound intellectual on Bacteria Genomics, Pathogen Dynamics and Plants’ Bioactive Compound on Diseases of Public Health Importance. He has published journals articles in the field of Life Sciences, contributing valuable knowledge and insights on the use of plants bioactive compounds in treatment of infections.

He is a member of America Society for Microbiology and Nigeria Society for Microbiology. Sir Onwuegbuchu is currently the coordinator of Student Industrial Work Experience Scheme (SIWES) in the Department of Microbiology at Kingsley Ozumba Mbadiwe University, Ideato. His dedication to student development is evident of his priority to enhance the student experience and support academic excellence.

Sir Onwuegbuchu is sedulously involved in community service, through several sensitizations and demonstrations on the use of plants’ extracts in the treatment of some microbial infections in the rural communities. He has led several community outreach programs focused on elimination of public health diseases through the use of natural medicinal plants, providing guidance and support to students and the young in the field of Medical Microbiology.
