Academic Profile for Dr. Ekeledirichukwu C. Njoku
Dr. Ekeledirichukwu C. Njoku is a lecturer and researcher in the field of International and Strategic Studies. He currently teaches in the Department of Political Science at Kingsley Ozumba Mbadiwe University, Ideato, Imo State, Nigeria.
He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Education/Political Science from the University of Nigeria in 2006. He later obtained a Master’s degree in Strategic and Defence Studies, and a Ph.D. in International and Strategic Studies, both from the University of Malaya.
Dr. Njoku’s research focuses on conflict resolution, radicalisation and terrorism in Africa, international security and strategic studies. He has a strong interest in analysing social movements, revolution and the dynamics between developed and developing countries. In the classroom, Dr. Njoku is known for encouraging critical thinking through engaging and interactive teaching methods. He supports students to analyse real-world political issues and develop independent perspectives.
He has published widely in peer-reviewed journals, including Scopus-indexed outlets such as Africa Review and the Malaysian Journal of International Relations, as well as other reputable journals like the Journal of Nation-Building & Policy Studies (JoNPS). He has also contributed book chapters and has several articles and chapters under review in recognised international journals and publishing outlets.
Dr. Njoku serves as a reviewer for a number of international journals, including Applied Economics Letters, SAGE Open, Taylor & Francis journals, African Renaissance, and Studia Historiae Oeconomicae. His role as a reviewer reflects his active contribution to global academic scholarship.
Beyond teaching and research, he plays important administrative and academic roles within the university. He is the Departmental Exams Officer and also serves as the Chairman of the Departmental Seminar Planning Committee. He is the Deputy Director of the Academic Planning and Development Unit at Kingsley Ozumba Mbadiwe University. In addition, he is the Editor-in-Chief of the Faculty of Social Sciences Journal, a member of the University Examination Committee, and the Patron of the Amazing Grace Chaplaincy Boys’ and Girls’ Brigade of the university.
Beyond academia, Dr. Njoku is a regular socio-economic and political commentator on both local and international radio platforms. He has also made several appearances on television, including on Advocate Broadcasting Network (ADBN TV), where he has discussed topical issues such as ECOWAS @ 50 and military rule, rising insurgency and shifting alliances in Africa. He has also been invited as a guest lecturer for postgraduate students in the Mass Communication Department at Bingham University.
At the international level, he has been a member of the Scientific Committee of the International Students Social Science Congress at Izmir Katip Celebi University since November 2023. He is also a member of the Nigerian Political Science Association.
