Invention (s) in Library Profession

  • 2017 As the Reference Librarian (2017-2018), I designed and produced with the permission of the University Librarian a FUTO Library flyer which is currently known as “FUTO Library at a glance”. This flyer is given to all first year students upon registration, to faculty members, visitors and it speaks for FUTO Library during accreditation periods in various departments.

November 2021 – Till Date University Librarian

  1. Acquire books, reference sources and journals for the various disciplines/departments in KOMU.
  2. Subscribe to three multidisciplinary databases to enable quality research and teaching.
  3. Implemented the use E-Library website where all E-Resources and open source databases are domiciled for easy access.
  4. Innovated the use of Chat Room for Students and reduce noise in the reading rooms.
  5. Train faculty members, students and staff on digital contents and login details. Online registration of faculty members, students and other staff.
  6. I came up with the idea of having Embedded Librarians, who carry our “Research Clinic” on Thursdays in all the faculties. This is intended to bring KOMU Library services as timely response to research queries, hitch-free access to all our digital contents by faculty members and students. And any other services that guarantees best practices in teaching and learning.

Federal University of Technology, Owerri. Imo State. (FUTO)**

2020 – Nov. 2021: Coordinator Institutional Repository (IR) Unit: Senior Librarian
  1. The IR Unit is the image maker of FUTO, more or less a public outfit that projects FUTO scholarly outputs or intellectual property to the globe. This Unit facilitates the webometric or ranking of FUTO alongside with other academic institutions globally. Hence;
  2. I supervise the collation of theses, dissertations, research articles, conference papers, lecture notes/videos, inaugural/public lectures, speeches, academic journals and newsletters emanating from various Departments in FUTO
  3. We as a Unit watermark the above mentioned E-Resources, upload them in PDF format to FUTOSpace (IR) using the Knowledge Hub software. These E-Resources are harvested by AAU, making them visible at a global level. FUTOSpace and privacy policies capture copyright laws that ensure both the safety and open access of FUTO scholarly outputs.

  1. Abstracting and Indexing of topical issues in science, technology, health and education of serials information resources. Uploading the abstract and bibliographic information of these information resources to FUTOSPACE for easy access by students and faculty members regardless of time and geographical location. These e-resources help in teaching, research and learning.
