The National Universities Commission (NUC) in the discharge of her statutory regulatory function of ensuring compliance with the quality of undergraduate programmes in Nigerian Universities visited KO Mbadiwe University Ideato for her maiden accreditation exercise which took place between Thursday, January 27 and Saturday, January 29, 2022. The 44-man NUC Team examined eleven (11) academic programmes in the University comprising; Biochemistry, Microbiology and Computer Science in the Faculty of Science; English and Literary Studies and History and International Studies in the Faculty of Arts as well as Psychology, Sociology, Political Science, Economics, Business Administration and Accounting in the Faculty of Social and Management Sciences.
In a chat with our reporter, the Vice-Chancellor Professor I.N.S. Dozie expressed deep gratitude to God for the success of the exercise, despite the challenges associated with the transition to KO Mbadiwe University and the short time interval for preparation. He appreciated the Visitor to the University and Governor of Imo State, His Excellency Senator Hope Uzodimma for his firm and generous support for the accreditation exercise as well as the steady growth and development of the university. He also appreciated the Management, Staff, and Students of the institution for their deep commitment before and during the exercise.
The VC informed our reporter that the university like other institutions that had their accreditation exercises will wait for the result of the exercise which will be released by NUC in due course.
Furthermore, the Vice-Chancellor hinted that admission exercise is still ongoing in the University. The minimum pass mark for the Supplementary Admission exercise is 120 marks for the 23 programmes offered in the 2021/2022 academic session.
