THE VC PARTICIPATES IN THE 2022 RETREAT FOR VICE-CHANCELLORS OF ALL STATE UNIVERSITIES IN NIGERIA.

 

The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ikechukwu N.S. Dozie participated in a one-day Retreat for Vice-Chancellors of State Universities in Nigeria held on Wednesday, July 20, 2022, at the National Universities Commission (NUC) Abuja. The Retreat organized by NUC Management was aimed at interacting with Vice-Chancellors on various topical issues in the Nigerian University System in line with emerging trends and global best practices for improved delivery of quality university education in Nigeria. 

The retreat, which was chaired by the Executive Secretary of the National Universities Commission, Professor Abubakar Adamu Rasheed was a huge success as various topical issues concerning the Nigerian University System were discussed. 

Amongst the topics discussed were:

  1. Guidelines on Trans-National Education (TNE) in Nigeria
  2. NUC Ranking of Universities: National University Ranking Advisory Committee (NURAC).
  3. Core Curriculum Minimum Academic Standards (CCMAS)
  4. Guidelines on e-Learning in Nigerian Universities
  5. Guidelines on Visiting, Sabbatical and Adjunct Appointments in Nigerian Universities
  6. University Convocation and Ceremonies
  7. Matters Arising from the October/November 2021 Accreditation Exercise
  8. Guidelines on Funding and Payment Operations for Accreditation and Resource Verification and other NUC Quality Assurance Activities
  9. Clarification on the Length of Semester in the NUS
  10. Data Generation from Universities: Integrity and Early Response Issues
  11. Guidelines on Entrepreneurship in Nigerian Universities
  12. Nigerian Universities Research and Development Fair (NURESDEF)
  13. Religious Tolerance in Universities.

Some members of NUC Management at the Retreat were Mr. Chris Mayaki, Deputy Executive Secretary (Administration), who was also the Chairman of the Local Organizing Committee and Dr. Noel Saliu, Director of Academic Planning.
