The Vice-Chancellor, Kingsley Ozumba Mbadiwe University Ideato, Prof. Ikechukwu Nosike Simplicius Dozie was honoured with the Most Outstanding Vice-Chancellor (Southeast) Award by the Association of Beauty Queens and Kings, an affiliate of the National Tourism Board. The event which took place at the Anniversary Celebration/Thanksgiving Service of the Association held on Friday, October 28, 2022, at the Prevailing Destiny Center, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, was attended by prominent personalities including an array of crowned beauty queens and kings in Nigeria.

In presenting the award, the association’s National President, Evangelist Ukeme Michael stated that Prof. Dozie was nominated on merit, after a meticulous screening by a committee established for that purpose. He said that the award was in recognition of the Vice Chancellor’s outstanding contributions to the development of the educational sector, philanthropic gestures, and human capital development.

The Vice-Chancellor who was the Special Guest of Honour at the occasion was represented by the University Public Relations Officer (PRO), Barr. Ekene Bob-Ekechukwu. In his response, the Vice Chancellor thanked the association for the recognition. He expressed delight with the vision of the association which is the rebranding of the tainted image of beauty pageants by making positive impacts on society.

He also applauded the humanitarian gestures of the association in reaching out to the victims of recent flooding in some parts of Nigeria and the sensitization of the masses on the need to collect their Permanent Voters Card (PVC) in order to participate in the forthcoming general elections. The Vice-Chancellor assured the association of partnership with the University in areas of common interest and urged members to continue to be good role models to the youth.

Previously, Executives of the Association led by the National President had paid a courtesy visit to the Vice Chancellor who received them along with other Principal Officers of the University at the temporary University Liaison Office in Owerri, the Grand Amari Hotel, Egbeada Owerri, Imo State. During the visit, the Executives who took turns to address the Vice Chancellor had eulogized him as a pacesetter in the education sector. Stressing that his outstanding achievements in the education sector especially in the area of human capital development had endeared the association to him. They presented the Vice Chancellor with a souvenir and an Ambassador of Youths Award. Furthermore, they notified him of his nomination for the Most Outstanding Vice-Chancellor (Southeast) Award.
