It was another record of a giant feat as two global ICT leaders, TD Africa and Huawei Technologies, in partnership with Kingsley Ozumba Mbadiwe University Ideato, on Friday, November 29, 2024, launched the establishment of a mega ICT Academy that is committed to driving ICT super skills and capacity building in Nigeria.

The moment of the launch ecstatically electrified the exquisite Sam Mbakwe hall of the Rockview Hotels, Owerri, filled with staff and students of K. O. Mbadiwe University and many other guests, drawn from various walks of life, who graced the event.

Strategic and prominent among the guests included the Commissioner for Digital Economy and E-Government, Dr. Chimezie Amadi, who represented the Imo State Governor and Visitor of the University, His Excellency, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma CON, and the Tertiary Education Commissioner, Prof. Victor Nwachukwu, in representation.

Both TD Africa and Huawei Technologies are known leading global providers of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) infrastructure and smart devices.

The KOMU Vice-Chancellor, Professor I.N.S. Dozie, in his opening remarks, highlighted the unique achievements of the young but fast-growing university. He expressed his profound appreciation for TD Africa and Huawei Technologies for partnering with Kingsley Ozumba Mbadiwe University Ideato, for the wonderful initiative and further said, the ICT Academy, is in tandem with the University's vision of becoming one of the global leading ICT-based institutions.

He praised the two global ICT companies for their contribution to technology innovation and advancement globally.

Mrs. Chioma Chimere, the Coordinating Managing Director of TD Africa, in her speech, expressed enthusiasm for the ICT Academy; explained that TD Africa, one of the largest distributors of cutting-edge technology solutions in Nigeria, has strengthened their partnership to drive digital transformation in Africa.

According to her, the ICT Academy is intended to deliver practical skills and training on emerging ICT developments with globally rated certifications.

The TD Africa's Executive Director, Mezie Emelonye, in his testimonial speech, which dwelt on 'how the greatness of this day was made'; He pulled the mild, touchy but glowing tributary of three (3) K.O. Mbadiwe University students, pressured on him by Dr. Festus Eze, of KOMU, for Industrial Training (IT), who in turn made the University proud with excellent performances amidst desirous quest for more knowledge. "It was this challenge and breakthrough that triggered the birth of this mega ICT Academy, being launched, today," he said. He further expressed TD Africa's commitment to the support and development of the Academy.

In another remark, Mr. Gary Li, who led the Huawei team, emphasized that the training offers an internationally recognized certification which equips the students with global standard skills that qualify them for ICT jobs anywhere in the world.

The Imo State Commissioner for Digital Economy, Dr. Chimezie Amadi, in his remarks; expressed satisfaction with the achievement of that mega ICT Academy in Imo State, especially, doing it, in partnership with two global ICT giants. He said the Academy further compliments the Imo Digital City under construction by the Governor of Imo State, His Excellency, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma. The Commissioner's, who began his speech with background information of TD Africa, said, he is also confirmed, he is a product of Zinox Group. He eulogized the KOMU Vice-Chancellor for the mega attraction.

The hallmark of the event was the unveiling of the all-in-one solution eKit's delivered to the Academy for robust connectivity, intelligent collaboration tools, and reliable storage, which includes: Routers, Switches, Access Points, and IdeaHub.

While, the University Orator, Dr. C. P. Dozie, coordinated the program flow, the University Registrar, Dr. Juliet Ekwugha, gave the closing remarks.
