Summary of Academic Profile:
Dr. Dunga Kingsley is an erudite academic and a Lecturer in the Department of Microbiology at Kingsley Ozumba Mbadiwe University, Ideato, Imo State, Nigeria. He hails from Mbaitoli Local Government Area in Imo State.
Dr. Dunga obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in Microbiology from the prestigious University of Port Harcourt, Rivers State in 1994.He obtained his Bachelor's degree in Physical and Health Education from Enugu State University of Science and Technology, Enugu in 2022. In addition he obtained his Associate in Medical Laboratory Science from University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital/Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria in 2010 specializing in Medical Microbiology/Bacteriology. He further advanced his education with a Master's degree in Medical Microbiology from Abia State University, Uturu and a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Medical Microbiology from same University in 2015 and 2019 respectively. He has demonstrated his continuous commitment and penchant for academic excellence and specialization in his field of endeavour.
Dr. Dunga has a robust academic and research profile having attended various training, conferences and workshops outside and within Nigeria where he has presented most of his works. He has published articles in numerous peer-reviewed journals in the field of Medical Laboratory Science cum Medical Microbiology, Antibiotics Sensitivity and Resistance Pattern, Water Microbiology and Public Health Microbiology contributing valuable knowledge and deep insight to the academic community and the World at large.
Dr. Dunga is a member of Association of Medical Laboratory Scientists of Nigeria (AMLSN) and immediate past chairman, Imo State Branch. He is also a member of Nigeria Society for Microbiology (NSM). Dr. Dunga is recognized for his contribution to Medical Laboratory Science both nationally and internationally. He is a Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria certified Examiner and also a member of the Imo State Covid 19 and emergent diseases Taskforce reflecting his dedication and professionalism. He is the Spokesperson and Chairman, Enforcement Committee of the Taskforce.
In addition to his professional membership, academic and research role, Dr. Dunga is the Project and Seminar Coordinator of the Department of Microbiology at K.O Mbadiwe University, Ogboko. Chairman, Laboratory Manual Committee of the Department. He was appointed the Coordinator, International Association for Exchange of Students for Technical Experience (IAESTE) at K.O Mbadiwe University in 2023. Dr. Dunga is a National Consultant to World Health Organization (WHO) on Polio Containment and National Demographic and Health Survey Biomaker. He has served as Chairman, in several Committees both within and outside the University community. His leadership, dedication and penchant for students’ development are eloquent testimonies of his efforts to enhance students’ experience and support academic success. Dr. Dunga has mentored many young people in the field of Medical Laboratory Science and Microbiology. He was the guest Lecturer/Speaker, Imo State University Career Day for Students of Biological Sciences, 2024.
Dr. Dunga in his leisure time enjoys fellowshipping with his friends, reading, gaming and Research. He is a lover of God and humanity a family man to the core. He loves children and takes pleasure in mentoring them.
