Brief Profile of Caleb Chukwuebuka, PhD

Dr. Caleb Chukwuebuka Iwuala is a distinguished academic and lecturer in the Department of Psychology at Kingsley Ozumba Mbadiwe University, Ideato, Imo State, Nigeria. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Imo State University, Owerri, and subsequently obtained a Master’s and Doctorate in Forensic and Correctional Psychology from Nasarawa State University, Keffi. His academic journey reflects a sustained commitment to scholarly excellence and specialization in forensic psychology.

Dr. Iwuala has developed a strong research and publication record in behavioral sciences, crime studies, and forensic psychology. He has presented at numerous national and international conferences, seminars, and workshops, while also publishing in reputable local and international journals, thereby contributing significantly to the advancement of knowledge in forensic and correctional psychology.

He is a Fellow of the Forensic Investigators’ Society of Nigeria and a full member of several professional associations, including the Nigerian Association of Forensic Psychologists (NAFP), the Nigerian Psychological Association (NPA), and the American Psychological Association (APA). His professional visibility and scholarly contributions earned him the appointment as the National Publicity Secretary of the NAFP. Beyond academia, he also serves as an active member of the Nigerian Red Cross Society, underscoring his dedication to humanitarian and community-oriented service.

Within Kingsley Ozumba Mbadiwe University, Dr. Iwuala has held several leadership roles, including two terms as Associate Dean of Student Affairs. He also serves on the University Examination Monitoring Taskforce, the Committee of Deans, and has contributed as Departmental ICT Officer and Class Adviser. His leadership demonstrates a strong commitment to student development, institutional service, and academic governance.

Dr. Iwuala’s academic and professional achievements have been recognized with several honors, including the Best Graduating Student Award (Psychology, Imo State University, 2015) and the Best President in Legal Aid Community Development Service by the National Youth Service Corps (2017), in recognition of his exceptional organization of pro bono legal aid for inmates in the Nigerian Correctional Service, Nasarawa State Command.

Actively engaged in community service, Dr. Iwuala has spearheaded mental health awareness campaigns and psychosocial support programs, and continues to mentor students and young professionals through university outreach initiatives.

Beyond his professional life, he enjoys reading in the fields of psychology and criminal justice, traveling, and exploring nature. He values family life deeply and draws inspiration from reflective leisure that enhances both personal and professional growth.
