Kingsley Ozumba Mbadiwe University (KOMU), Ideato, proudly announces the appointment of our immediate past Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Professor Aloysius Chijioke Onyeka, as the First Substantive Vice-Chancellor of the University of Innovation, Science and Technology, Omuma (UISTO), Imo State. His appointment, approved by His Excellency, Distinguished Senator (Dr.) Hope Uzodimma, the Executive Governor of Imo State, takes effect from November 26, 2025.

Professor Onyeka, a distinguished scholar of statistics, seasoned administrator, and pioneer of digital innovation in Nigerian higher education, has served KOMU with exceptional dedication and transformative vision. Appointed as Deputy Vice-Chancellor of KOMU in 2021, he played a pivotal role in strengthening academic governance, advancing ICT-driven reforms, and mentoring a new generation of scholars.

Earlier in 2025, Professor Onyeka was appointed Acting Vice-Chancellor of Alvan Ikoku Federal University of Education (AIFUE), Owerri, where he provided strategic leadership and ensured stability during a critical transition period.

A trailblazer in educational technology and digital transformation, Professor Onyeka is widely celebrated for pioneering Computer-Based Testing (CBT) at the Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO) in 2015, and for developing innovative academic management tools that continue to be used across Nigerian universities. His contributions to statistical research, software development, and human capital development span decades of impactful scholarship and leadership.

Professor Onyeka’s new role as pioneer Vice-Chancellor of UISTO is a fitting recognition of his visionary leadership, deep commitment to excellence, and unwavering service to the advancement of higher education in Imo State and Nigeria at large.
